WALLUKS
"What is EPDM?" is a question that interests many, from sports facility designers to park and landscape planners. EPDM is a synthetic rubber material named after the initials of its components: Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer. Thanks to its flexibility, UV resistance, and long service life, this material is widely used in applications such as flooring, sealing, and insulation.
How Is EPDM Produced?
EPDM is produced through the polymerization of ethylene, propylene, and diene monomer components. This production process creates a unique chemical structure that imparts both rigidity and flexibility to the material. Additionally, the diene component enables the material to undergo vulcanization—a cross-linking process involving the formation of sulfur bridges. This characteristic significantly enhances EPDM's durability.
Key Properties of EPDM
Exceptional resistance to UV rays and ozone
Structure that retains flexibility across a wide temperature range
High air and water impermeability
Moderate to high resistance to chemicals
Color consistency; pigment properties that do not fade over time
Creation of safe flooring due to high impact absorption capacity
What Are EPDM Granules?
EPDM granules are the rubber material processed into small particles. These granules are mixed with a polyurethane binder and used in flooring applications. When applied, they create a flexible, colorful, and durable surface. EPDM granules are particularly preferred for areas such as playgrounds, athletic tracks, gymnasiums, and schoolyards.
Furthermore, EPDM granules... It is produced in a wide range of colors, including red, blue, green, and yellow. This extensive color palette makes it possible to create aesthetic and functional flooring designs.

Flooring Applications
EPDM granules are widely used for flooring in sports facilities—particularly for safety surfaces in playgrounds and athletic tracks. Consequently, they deliver superior results in terms of both aesthetics and safety.
